Quote follow-up, done properly

Following up the quotes you've already sent is the highest-return sales activity most service businesses ignore. This guide covers the timing, the wording and the system to turn more of your open quotes into booked jobs.

A quote is not the end of a sale — it's the middle. The job usually goes to whoever follows up first, most helpfully, and most consistently. Yet most quotes are sent once and never chased.

Why quote follow-up matters more than more leads

You've already paid to win the enquiry, price the job and send the quote. Recovering an open quote costs you nothing extra — unlike buying another lead. That's why follow-up has a far better return than more advertising.

How to follow up: the essentials

  • Send the first touch the same day the quote goes out.
  • Space touches every few days — not daily.
  • Match the customer's channel (SMS, WhatsApp or email).
  • Lead with something useful, and always give an easy way to say no.
  • Stop after about four touches over two weeks.

For the exact wording, see our copy-and-paste follow-up templates and the guide to following up without sounding pushy.
